oops, i turned off the commenting option... got a number of emails about it... didn't think people were that eager to comment! hehe

so it's 6:25pm here in seattle and I'm still at work... in fact, I'm the only one left in the office... everyone went home... why am I still here? because I have a deadline tomorrow... deadline for a project that I just got today... I have to review a set of drawings... a set of drawings that contains 133 sheets... 30"x42".... sigh... there's so much back-checking that needs to be done... and to make this more difficult, i have no idea what I'm doing... I've been assigned a lot of drawing reviews... I have no problem starting it... but so far, I have yet to finish one... I usually hand it off to the senior tech, who's more knowledgeable and capable to review the rest. I really have no idea what I'm doing, nor do I have the knowledge... I didn't option in Building Science... I'm a Project Manager... the office is so busy, everyone is so busy... currently, my team is involved with over 50 different projects and at our team meeting today, it was announced that we've got 12 new projects on the way... aiya... I feel I was tossed into the sea of chaos and only a small little plank of wood to hang on to... in order to survive, I've got to learn how to make use of what I have and keep my eyes open for other floating objects so I can build upon what I've got. It's a challenge. One of the managers apologized to me today for having tossed me in so deep and that no one has really had time to sit me down and walk me thru the process of reviewing drawings. That's ok... I'm learning as I go along... it's a challenge but I have faith... slowly but surely...

Sometimes I just want to quickly skim over it and get it over with cuz I have so many other things to do... there's so many little details that I need to look at... I'm sure it all looks the same, I can overlook a few... right? but then I think about the reality of what I'm doing. This isn't some school project. This is real. I can't do a half baked job just to get it handed in on time. What I do affects how the building will be built. If I miss something, recommend the wrong thing, others will suffer the consequences. Money will be lost. Clients come to us because we're experts at what we do... on the other hand, to put things in better perspective, it's not really about the clients, or my managers or me... I need to remember the verse above... I need to work hard and become good at what I do so that Christ may be glorified. It is he that I'm serving.

Sigh... working in the real world... lots of benefits but so much more responsibilities... what happened to the days where I was only responsible for myself? where what I did, only affected me? gone.
