the new year
God is awesome in his planning and timing. I will forever praise him for his blessings, his provisions and his faithful answers to all our prayers. I thank God for my sisters out west because it is the amazing love, support, fellowship and dialogue between these ladies that make me fly across the country just to be a part of.

Disappering to Calgary for the end part of my holidays was one of those spontaneous things I really enjoy doing. It was a wonderful 10 days spent relaxing and hanging out with my sisters there. Not a care in the world...except for washing dishes. I didn't think I would go back there so early but I couldn't have gone at a better time.
So much happened in 10 days. So many prayers answered and prayers required. So much surprises, corny jokes and come-back lines and way too much good food. Who would have thought I would spend new years eve in Edmonton playing a murder mystery game and meeting people whose name I never even found out and I simply refer to them by their character's name? Who would have thought that "Babylon JanJan" can do the running-man to any song? Who would have thought that I would leave home with a relatively light luggage but return with 10 extra pair of pants from my big sis (and then to have it all actually fit into my bag)?! Who would have thought that poo isn't the only thing you can crap out. And who would have thought that if my visit to Calgary was delayed, things would have been very very different. Certainly not I.
One thing I'm taking from this little trip, aside from an expanded vocabulary, is a sense of closure. I thought I had closed this chapter in my life but it kept openning back up and demanded more to be written. I wasn't ready to go home when I had to leave back in August and because of that, my mind often wondered its way back to Calgary. But during these 10 days, certain events and situations made me realize that it was time to go home, time to let go. And this time, I was ready. It almost seems as if these 10 days should have been added to the end of August so that this is how my summer would have ended.
Well a new perspective and new lessons have been gained from this little trip.
My theme for this new year: "Change, change, change" (to the tune of Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools")
